New to Shakespeare Reloaded: An ecological Twelfth Night
A staged reading of Salt Waves Fresh by Bell Shakespeare at the Australian and New Zealand Shakespeare Association Conference in Sydney (December 2023).
The Shakespeare Reloaded/Better Strangers team is thrilled to present a new resource to the website: Salt Waves Fresh - an ecological adaptation of Twelfth Night.
Created by Professor Gretchen Minton during her time as a Fulbright Scholar in Australia, Salt Waves Fresh is set in contemporary north Queensland and mixes language from the play with passages from other Shakespeare plays, contemporary Australian poetry, and historical material.
The website resource provides information about the play, two full scenes, images of previous performances, and practical educational resources.
Salt Waves Fresh workshop in Townsville (2023) - Claire Hansen and Gretchen Minton with TheatreiNQ performers Arminelle Fleming (as Malvolio) and Michael Sams (as Toby).
The Shakespeare Reloaded team is proud to host this innovative project, and we hope it proves inspiring to educators and practitioners interested in the intersection of Shakespeare and our changing environment.
