Lauren A. Weber recently submitted her PhD at the University of Sydney in the Department of English, and is Research Assistant on the Better Strangers project. Her project explored the way an empathic approach to literary criticism can resist the demands of systematised education. Her other research interests include alternative education, neurodiverse education, and Shakespeare and contemporary culture. She is a researcher in the School of Education at Macquarie University, tutor in English at the University of Sydney, a tutor and lecturer at the Workers' Educational Association (WEA) and a long-time volunteer with the Story Factory in Sydney. She recently published some of her writing and research on English education in mETAphor.
